A new podcast series, Beyond Binaries, produced as part of the research project Beyond Binaries: Intersex in Islamic Legal Tradition, has now been launched. The series features conversations between Dr Mehrdad Alipour and Asha Ali, exploring how Islamic thought engages with questions of sex, gender, and sexuality — including intersex embodiment, identity, and agency.

The five-episode series unfolds over the coming weeks. While each episode explores a distinct theme, the first two focus on the conceptual and methodological approaches to researching sex, gender, and sexuality in Islamic legal and cultural contexts. The following three episodes turn to intersex-related discussions, addressing questions of identity, agency, and representation.
